Biography

Wesley is Head of the Shipping Division. He has advised on a wide array of maritime and international trade law matters, including attachments, ship arrests, charter party disputes, cargo claims, salvage claims, marine pollution, collisions, groundings and other casualties, crew claims, bunker claims and other general admiralty claims as well as enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in the UAE amongst others.  Wesley has also advised on various non-contentious aspects of maritime law including, drafting standard terms and conditions, charterparties and yacht sale and purchase agreements amongst others.

Having commenced articles of clerkship at Shepstone & Wylie in 2010, Wesley qualified as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2012 and practised maritime and international trade law at one of the leading International Transport, Trade & Energy departments in South Africa prior to moving to Dubai in 2018.

Wesley is a member of the Maritime Law Association of South Africa (MLASA) and has sat on the Executive Committees of MLASA at both national and local Chapter levels. He holds an LLB and LLM in Business Law from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
