Shathil worked as legal researcher for the Office of the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar from 2017 to 2020. He served as a Lecturer at Université Paris-Saclay from 2020 to 2023 and was a Research Assistant at Qatar University from 2022 to 2024. He mainly works in the areas of International Law and Communications Law.
In 2024, Shathil defended his PhD thesis in Law on the Legal protection of personal data for air passengers at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Shathil was awarded Legal Counsel of the Year at the 2017 Qatar Business Law Forum for his paper (Being Legal counsel in the Information Society Era).
He is also a literature contributor for the French reviews Le Comptoir and Philitt. Shathil has published 80 articles on literature, political-philosophy and law.
