Philip Biggs
Patent Attorney, Rouse (Dubai, UAE)
Philip has a background in engineering and worked in industry for over ten years before qualifying as a patent attorney. Prior to joining Rouse, Philip spent nearly a decade in private practice in London – first in the IP department of an international law firm and then at an IP firm that specialises in patent prosecution and litigation. Before that, Philip trained in the patent department of one of the world’s leading aerospace companies.
Working with a range of clients, including large corporations, universities, and early-stage businesses, Philip has a particular interest in the healthcare, transportation, and IT sectors. He has handled cases involving medical devices, 3D printing, packaging, aerospace technology, and computer-implemented innovations.
Philip is experienced in managing global patent portfolios and seeks to provide his clients with practical and commercially relevant advice. As well as being involved with oppositions and appeals at the European Patent Office, he is conversant with the differing requirements of the patent offices in the US, Europe, China, Korea, and Japan. His practice also includes advising on third-party patent rights (freedom-to-operate) and providing opinions on validity and infringement.
