Biography

Natasja is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution practice at Horizons & Co. She has extensive experience in complex commercial dispute resolution and arbitration matters, gained over 12 years of working at regional and international law firms in the Middle East and a top tier Australian law firm.

Natasja’s commercial dispute resolution practice focusses on the construction, international trade, maritime, shipping, commodities and oil and gas sectors. Natasja regularly advises and represents clients in respect of disputes under the major international and regional arbitration rules including ICC, DIFC-LCIA, LCIA and DIAC, with a wide range of applicable laws (DIFC, French, Libyan, Bahraini and Iraqi law) and seats. Natasja also has experience in infrastructure, commercial and fraud disputes and is an accredited Civil/Commercial Mediator.

In addition to her commercial dispute resolution practice, Natasja also routinely advises clients across the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. She has been involved in precedent setting cases in the DIFC and has represented a large number of individuals in contentious employment disputes. Natasja has experience with both DIFC and onshore UAE employment law, and advises companies with onshore operations in the UAE and the various commercial free zone areas such as the Jebel Ali

Free Zone, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre and Dubai Airport Free Zone, as well as the financial free zones, DIFC and ADGM. She also regularly advises and assists clients with recruitment, termination, remuneration, performance management, disciplinary and data protection and privacy matters. 

One of Natasja’s specialties is providing tailored advice using her knowledge of the local business and cultural environment of the Middle East.

Natasja is a Board member of the Dubai Chapter for Women in e-Discovery through which she connects women in the legal and technology sectors. She is also an active member of the Australian Business Council and the Netherlands Business Council in Dubai.

Natasja is fluent in English and Dutch.
