As DPO for the Hostelworld Group, Gordon is responsible for ensuring Hostelworld's compliance with data protection laws including the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive. Hostelworld has offices in Dublin, London, Shanghai, Sydney and Porto with over 12 million reviews across 17,400 hostel properties in more than 178 countries.
Prior to joining Hostelworld, Gordon worked for PwC Middle East in Dubai advising global clients on their rights and obligations under European data protection law, focusing on assisting with clients with their GDPR implementation and compliance programs. Gordon also advised clients on the growing number of new privacy and data protection laws throughout the Middle East region, particularly in Bahrain and Qatar.
Gordon regularly acts as a speaker and expert panellist a variety of data privacy and protection conferences and seminars. His speaking engagements have included the French Institute of Risk & Compliance's 1st European Compliance &Technology Conference in Paris, the GDPR Summit in Dublin and the Virgin Media Business Ireland TechConnect Live.
Gordon is a regular contributor to leading legal journals on topics such as data protection and corporate and commercial law and a regular guest lecturer at the Law Society of Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland.
