Senior Legal Consultant, Dentons
Edward Rose is a senior legal consultant in the Energy, Transport and Infrastructure practice in Dentons' Riyadh office. Based in Saudi Arabia since 2014, he has more than 25 years of experience working on Middle East projects, including advising clients on international energy, infrastructure and corporate matters.
During his professional career, Edward has acted for government entities, international energy companies, project developers, contractors and large-scale corporations on a diverse range of high-value transactions. He specialises in advising on and managing infrastructure projects and related corporate deals throughout the Middle East.
Edward is highly regarded as a practitioner in his field. Deals on which he has advised have often won awards, and he has been acknowledged as a leading oil and gas lawyer by Chambers and Partners' Global Guide to the Legal Profession as well as by the Legal 500. Edward has been recommended by the Legal 500 EMEA for projects and energy work and recognised for his "development and financing" work. Edward has previously been based in Oman and Abu Dhabi.
Experience
• Farabi Petrochemicals: Advising on its first overseas acquisition, Farabi acquired from ISU Chemical Co., Ltd of South Korea a 50% stake in Great Orient Chemical (Taicang) Co., Ltd, a linear alkyl benzene (LAB) production plant based in Taicang, China, through the acquisition of shares in a Singapore-based holding company.
• Confidential client: Advising the lead sponsor on the negotiation and execution of a concession agreement with a Saudi government entity for the development and management of a new multi-purpose port in Saudi Arabia.*
• Confidential client: Advising a local and international consortium on its bid to Saudi Water Partnership Company (the government procurer) for, and the successful award of, a 25-year sewage treatment agreement to develop, construct, finance and operate an independent sewage treatment project on a BOT-project finance basis in the Kingdom.*
• Confidential client: Advising on the bid by a major private chemicals company based in Saudi Arabia to acquire shares in an Asia-based holding company, which is the sole shareholder of a China-based chemicals production company.*
• Confidential client: Advising an investment company based in Saudi Arabia on its direct investment, alongside leading Saudi and international co-shareholders, to establish a joint venture to build and operate a marine parts manufacturing facility the Ras Al Khair Maritime Complex.*
• Confidential client: Advising a leading Saudi chemicals company on the review of a range of complex claims (amounting to several hundred million dollars) arising from the client's contract with a prominent international EPC contractor, on the client's strategy and options for the resolution of the claims, and on the successful negotiation of a settlement agreement.*
