Dr Amer is an Assistant Professor of International Dispute Resolution at Birmingham University. His principal research interests are in the fields of International Commercial Dispute Resolution, Private International Law and Construction Law. He is the author of several publications in these areas.
In terms of professional practice, Dr. Amer serves as Of-Counsel at Hage & Partners, a boutique law firm specializing in construction disputes. With expertise in advising and representing both national and international clients, he appears before state and arbitration bodies, handling domestic, regional, and international disputes under various applicable laws, with a specific emphasis on construction-related disputes.
Furthermore, Dr Amer is a certified independent arbitrator and sits as an arbitrator in domestic and international commercial disputes.
Dr Amer holds a BA in Law from the Lebanese University - the French Section, a Master’s degree in International Private and International Commercial law from Panthéon Assas University (Paris II), an LLM in International and Comparative Dispute Resolution (with a focus on construction contracts and arbitration) form the International Arbitration School of Queen Mary University of London and a PhD in International Litigation and Arbitration from the Sorbonne School of Law (Paris 1).
Amer is fluent in Arabic, French and English.
