Cynthia established a commercial information services consultancy for marketing and research, under the name of Inroads International (now restructured and re-named T&A Consulting Services Ltd) and thereafter, the first female expatriate legal consultancy in the U.A.E. Licensed by the Rulers Office of Dubai, under the name of Trench & Associates.
Trench Law also handles property and general litigation. Cynthia's expertise is in respect of enabling clients to be established in the Middle East expeditiously in a cost effective way. Furthermore, she has handled many mergers and acquisitions paying particular regard to succession planning.
Cynthia obtained her Licence from the Rulers Office of the Government of Dubai as the first female expatriate licensed Legal Consultant.
Cynthia was awarded Best Service Provider by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on behalf of his Establishment for young entrepreneurs.
Cynthia has spoken at many Seminars on the subject of Estate Planning in the UAE and on the effect of Sharia Law on the assets of expatriates in general. Seminars were given at many different forums including Emirates Airlines, Mars Middle East, Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays Bank, and many other large corporations and SMEs based in the UAE.
Cynthia provided the DIFC Courts/ DFSA with the idea to promulgate a new law for drawing up wills and issuance of probate for non-Muslims. Cynthia played an active role in formulating the DIFC's probate regulations, culminating in the new DIFC Wills & Probate Registry coming into effect in May 2015: www.difcprobate.ae. She is one of the recognised legal practitioners capable of advising on probate matters and is regarded as the go-to-person in terms of drawing up DIFC Wills.
As at 1 January 2018, Trench Law have drafted and registered over 550 DIFC Wills and presently handling over 18 inheritance cases at the Sharia Personal Status Court and 2 DIFC Probates.
Cynthia's first Language is English but she also speaks Cantonese and French.
