Since 2005, Conrad Sturm has had a distinguished career teaching and designing legal skills courses, among others, in Canada, the USA and Qatar. From 2011 to 2018, Professor Sturm served as the Director of the Lawyering Skills Program at the Qatar University College of Law.
When Professor Sturm and his team joined the Qatar University College of Law in 2011, they founded the first comprehensive legal skills program in legal writing, research, analysis, and advocacy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. In 2018, the program received international recognition at the 13th Global Legal Skills Conference in Melbourne, Australia, for its leading contributions to global legal skills, and in particular, the development of legal skills education in the MENA region.
Before joining Qatar University, Professor Sturm taught legal skills to JD students at the Ave Maria School of Law (USA), the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law (Canada), and the Queen's University, Faculty of Law (Canada). He also taught legal skills to Master of Laws (LLM) students at the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago.
