Charles specialises in aviation liability and regulatory law. He acts for a number of Middle East and African airlines, ground handlers, business jet operators, regulators and other aerospace entities on a wide range of matters.
Together with Richard Gimblett, Charles has handled a number of high profile aviation losses in the Middle East and Africa. He advised in relation to the collaboration between Emirates and Qantas in 2013 and was part of the team that represented IATA in proceedings before the European Court of Justice concerning the application of emissions trading rules to aviation.
Charles also has extensive experience in the airports sector. He has acted for many of the region's major airports in relation to dispute resolution, commercial and regulatory matters.
Charles was named as a "Rising Star" of aviation in the 2019 edition of Expert Guides. He is a regular speaker at industry events and sits on the Board of the Middle East branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Charles qualified in London in September 2008 and has been based in the Middle East since January 2012.
