Guidelines regarding “Orthopedic Surgery” privileges

Greetings from the “Department of Healthcare Professions”,

In line with the Department of Healthcare Professions’ regulatory and monitoring roles to ensure patient safety, the extensive literature reviews performed by the specialized committee in Orthopedic Surgery and in accordance with the Permanent Licensing Committee’s (PLC) decision during its meeting number (4) of the year 2023, convened on the date 25/09/2023, it has been decided to:

Cancel all previous approvals issued to physicians specialized in Orthopedic Surgery, regarding the use of “Ozone Therapy” in intra-articular injections for knee pain related to osteoarthritis.
Not grant approvals for any new requests for Ozone Therapy, as the treatment is not endorsed and requires further scientific proof based on the specialized committee’s opinion.
