On Issuing the Covered Short Selling Rules
The Board of Directors,
Pursuant to the perusal of Qatar Law No. 8/2012 regarding the Qatar Financial Markets Authority,
The approval of the Board of Directors of Qatar Financial Markets Authority in its first meeting for the year 2022 held on March 17, 2022; and
Based on the public interest requirements,
Has decided the following:
Covered Short Selling Rules (CSS Rules)
Article 1 - Definitions
In applying the provisions of the present Rules, the following terms and expressions shall have the meaning assigned against each of them, unless the context requires otherwise:
State: State of Qatar
Law: Qatar Law No. 8/2012 as amended by Qatar Decree-Law No. 22/2018.
Authority: Qatar Financial Markets Authority
Market: Financial market that is licensed by the Authority to deal in securities.
Depository: Company licensed by the Authority to carry out the tasks of a Depository.
Company: Financial services company that is licensed or registered with the Authority to practice any of the activities stipulated in Article (4) of the Financial Services Regulation issued by the Authority.
