The Telecom sector in Oman is establishing “a public warning system” to broadcast a public warning through cell broadcast service to mobile handsets with cooperation with Early Warning Center.

This document subscribes the technical specifications of the mobile handsets to enable the cell broadcast service for all the handsets available in the Oman market.

a) All the handset shall be configured by default to receive all warning notifications.

b) The handset shall display the warning notification immediately and without user interaction.

c) Handset shall present the warning notifications in language as send by the service provider.

d) The alerting of the warning notification shall continue until suppressed by users’ manual operation e.g. pushing keys.

e) All the available technologies (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G) in the handset shall support the cell broadcast.

f) Messages should be supporting the 4 (languages); Arabic, English, Hindi, Urdu.
