The administration of medicines is not solely a mechanical task. It requires thought and use of professional judgment. Monitoring is a process that ensures the medication therapy is appropriate and effective, while minimizing the occurrence of adverse events. All patients/clients have the right to have any proposed treatment including risks involved in that treatment and any alternatives clearly explained before they agree to consent.
