The Newly Emerging 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Infection Prevention and Control Guideline for Ports of Entry
Introduction
Travelling around the world by the land, air and sea plays a significant role in the spread of infectious diseases especially with increase global travel facilitating quick and uncontrollable spread of transmissible pathogens from person-to-person around the world. Ports contribute to the potential spread of disease due to the high number of travellers across the world coming together in enclosed spaces, with high potential of touching surfaces.
At ports, infected people can spread pathogens exposing other passengers and port staff to infectious microbes. Therefore, infectious disease transmission is growing concern during travel and at ports. The aim of this document is to guide the ports management and staff on infection prevention and control measure for minimising the risk of infectious diseases transmission mainly respiratory infections (influenza and corona virus)
