1 - Definitions

1.1 Early pregnancy loss is defined as spontaneous loss of a pregnancy prior to 13 weeks of gestation. Common risk factors include maternal age and previous early pregnancy loss. The miscarriage can be divided into missed miscarriage which is defined as unrecognized intrauterine death of the embryo or foetus without expulsion of the products of conception, and incomplete miscarriage when some but not all the products of conceptions have been expelled.
