Subject: Master Circular on Personal Loans/finance

1. Central Bank of Oman had, from time to time. issued various instructions/ guidelines on the subject matter, primarily to ensure that banks meet the genuine credit needs of the household sector but at the same time practice moderation so as not to unduly increase the household indebtedness.

2. Keeping the above in the backdrop, the Central Bank of Oman has reviewed the existing instructions on the subject matter and the consolidated/revised instructions are outlined in the Annexure. The views of Oman Banks Association have been duly considered before finalisation of the instructions. which come into force with effect from March 1, 2025.

3. Banks are advised to ensure compliance accordingly.
