Subject: Issue of Bank Notes with Additional Security Features

The Central Bank of Oman is pleased to attach herewith copy of the Notice issued to the public dated 18th November 2000, to introduce new Revised Omani Banknotes with additional security features of the denominations of RO 50, 20, 10 and 5, on the occasion of 30th National Day Anniversary, with effect from 18th November 2000.

The new notes will be issued to the banks operating in the Sultanate of Oman with effect from 16th November 2000, in the same manner as previous issues. Banks are requested not to release the new series of notes to the public before 18th November 2000 (the issue date).

The existing notes will remain in circulation as legal tender along with the new series, and will be withdrawn gradually over a period of time.

Banks may submit the Currency orders to acquire stocks of the new currency notes in the usual manner in accordance with existing regulation.
