To: All Foreign Banks Operating in the Sultanate of Oman

Subject: Guarantee to be submitted by the Head Office of the Branch/Branches in the Sultanate of Oman

1. The attention of all foreign banks is drawn to Oman Regulation No. BM/REG/003/3/1975 –4-3.01 dealing with the subject of the initial capital requirements of banks operating in the Sultanate of Oman.

2. In regard to foreign banks, Article 4-3.02-2(c) of the said Regulation has stipulated as follows:

   • “a statement signed by a duly authorized official of the licensed bank’s Head Office in such manner as may be required in the jurisdiction of the Head Office to be admissible in a judicial proceeding and subject to sanction in the event it were knowingly false or misleading to the effect that the bank, as a whole, recognizes and accepts its responsibility for the liabilities of its branch or branches in Oman and in the event of its branch or branches requiring support for the proper continuance of its activities, such support shall be forthcoming without delay”.
