Subject: Translation of Oman Regulation No. BM/REG/33/11/1989 on Future Transactions in Foreign Exchange and Precious Metals

Further to our Oman Central Bank Circular No. BM544/1989 dated December 2, 1989, please find attached herewith a copy of the English translation of Oman Regulation No. BM/REG/33/11/1989 published in the Official Gazette No. 420 dated December 2, 1989.

All banks are required to adhere to the provisions of the said Regulation from the date of its enforcement.

Oman Regulation No. BM/REG/33/11/1989 on Future Transactions in Foreign Exchange and Precious Metals

The Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman, pursuant to Articles 2-1.09 (l), (n) and 4-4.05*[1] of the Banking Law 1974

Decided as follows:

Article 1

For the purposes of this Regulation, the following definitions shall apply:

  • a) Networth

  • Shall mean the networth of a bank as defined in Oman Regulation No. BM/REG/013/7/1978 excluding provisions, and in regard to licensed foreign banks applies to networth within the Sultanate excluding provisions.
