Subject: Identity Card
We have been informed by the Royal Oman Police that some banks within the Sultanate refuse to accept the National identity Card as a form of personal identification.
In this connection, we have been requested by Royal Oman Police to inform all banks and their branches that the aforesaid National Identity Card has been issued according to Article 6 of Oman Sultani Decree No. 2/1987 which provides that:
“The particulars contained in the identity Card shall be considered final proof of the identity of the concerned person. No government or any other body shall deny the acceptability of the Identity Card for the purpose of identifying the bearer or his nationality.”
We hereby request all banks to advise all their branches to accept the National Identity Card as an official document for identification purposes.
