Sub: Matrix of Penalties for Non-compliance with the CBO Regulatory Regime

1. Attention is invited to the CBO Regulation BM/REG/012/5/78 2-1-09 (f) which was circulated vide Circular BM 165 dated May 6, 1978. This regulation sets out the sanctions which may be imposed on a licensed bank for failure to comply with directives of policies of the Central Bank or for any breach or violation of the provisions of the Oman Sultani Decree No. 114/2000 or Regulations of the Central Bank issued thereunder.

   Any or all of the sanctions stipulated in the aforesaid Regulation could be imposed at the discretion of the Central Bank on a licensed institution found guilty. These are enumerated herein below:

   • a) The withdrawal of the banking license of a licensed bank and/or any or all of its branch offices within the Sultanate.

     b) The suspension of operation of a licensed bank and/or any or all of its branches within or without the Sultanate.
