Sub: Five Working Days for Banks
At the requests of most of the licensed banks, the Board of Governors of 1. the Central Bank of Oman reviewed the provisions of Regulation BM/REG/34/10/89 (in the light of Article 51 of Oman Sultani Decree No. 114/2000) and decided as follows:
i) All licensed banks shall be open for banking business from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday.
ii) Banks wishing to open for the public beyond the above stipulations (but not later than 7.00 p.m.) shall obtain the prior approval from Central Bank of Oman.
iii) There is no change in relaxation provided for Dealing Rooms in Oman Central Bank Circular No. BM721/1994 dated 11th May 1994.
iv) Licensed banks shall remain closed on Fridays, Saturdays, holidays declared by the Government for the private sector and any other days which may be specified by Central Bank.
v) Change, aforesaid in paras (i), shall be effective from 1st July 2008.
