Commencing an Appeal before the QFC Regulatory Tribunal

Overview

  • The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Regulatory Tribunal was established by virtue of QFC Law No. 7/2005 which was amended by QFC Law No. 2/2009 and QFC Law No. 14/2009.

  • The jurisdiction of the Regulatory Tribunal is, primarily, contained within QFC Law No. 7/2005. Article 8(2)(c) of QFC Law No. 7/2005 provides that the Regulatory Tribunal “shall have the jurisdiction to hear Appeals raised by individuals and corporate bodies against decisions of The QFC Authority, The Regulatory Authority and other QFC Institutions.”

  • Examples of “other QFC Institutions” include the QFC Companies Registration Office established under article 7 of QFC Law No. 7/2005 and the Employment Standards Office established under article 6 of the QFC Employment Regulations QFC Regulation No. 10/2006.
