Cyberwarfare and Cybercrimes
Overview
Several instruments address the cybercrime domain in Qatar, such as Qatar Law No. 11/2004 On the Issuance of the Penal Code, Qatar Decree-Law No. 34/2006 On the Issuance of the Communications Law, Qatar Law No. 14/2014 On the Issuance of the Law on Combating Cyber Crimes and Qatar Law No. 13/2016 On the Protection of Personal Data Privacy as well as several bylaws, policies and standards.
Qatar's Ministry of Interior (MOI) is tasked with overseeing and implementing Qatar Law No. 14/2014.
Violations or breaches of Qatar Law No. 14/2014 and cases arising under Qatar Law No. 13/2016 should be brought before the Department of Criminal Investigation at the MOI.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has a mandate to ensure aspects of prevention, including spreading awareness about cybersecurity requirements, information technology policies, best practices in the field of communication technology and methods of reporting suspicious operations or transactions.
