This precedent variation clause aims to exclude any oral variations to the agreement and to ensure that any variation agreed by the parties is clearly documented, providing the parties with certainty and reducing the likelihood of a dispute.

No variation of this agreement shall be valid or effective unless it is in writing, refers to this agreement and is duly signed or executed (as the case may be) by, or on behalf of, each party.
