The QICDRC as a Venue for Arbitration

Overview

  • In addition to housing an international civil and commercial court and a specialist regulatory tribunal, the QICDRC is also home to state-of-the-art arbitration and mediation facilities.

  • Although the QICDRC does not, as at the time of writing, provide an administered arbitration service, it does allow parties, whether affiliated with the QFC or otherwise, to use its premises as a venue for arbitration.

  • This Practice Note provides an overview of the following:

    • the facilities available at the QICDRC for those wishing to use it as a venue for arbitration; and

    • information on how parties can make enquires with the QICDRC and reserve the facilities.

Definitions

  • ADR : Alternative Dispute Resolution.

  • QICDRC : Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre.

  • QFC : Qatar Financial Centre.

  • Venue : The physical premises where the arbitration is taking place. Not to be confused with the legal place of the arbitration, commonly referred to as the “seat”.
