Starting an Arbitration under ADCCAC Rules (English/Arabic)

This Practice Note describes the necessary steps required to start arbitration proceedings under ADCCAC rules.
This note guides the readers on how to file a request for arbitration (RFA) and a response thereto. It also identifies the information that parties are required to include in the RFA and the response.
This Practice Note also explains the importance of referencing the ADCCAC rules in the arbitration agreement and the process for appointing arbitrators both when selecting a sole arbitrator and a three-member arbitral panel.
Definitions
ADCCAC: The Abu Dhabi Conciliation and Arbitration Centre.
ADCCAC Rules: The Procedural Regulations of the ADCCAC.
Claimant: The party/ies starting the arbitration.
Respondent: The party/ies against whom the arbitration is instituted.
Arbitration panel: A sole arbitrator or three arbitrators.
Committee: The body at the ADCCAC in charge of administering commercial arbitration cases.
RFA: The Request for Arbitration.
Arbitration agreement: The parties' written agreement to settle their disputes by arbitration made either prior to the emergence of a dispute (the arbitration clause) or thereafter (the submission agreement).
