GCC Energy Projects
Overview
GCC countries in general and Bahrain specifically obtain high levels of solar radiation. Although wind regionally is of average speed, it could be considered as another source of renewable energy. In order for Bahrain to raise its production of electricity and decrease the pollution of non-renewable energy sources, it has started looking into various options of clean and renewable energy. Bahrain intends to reach its goal by planning and launching energy projects that utilise a mixture of solar and wind energy.
The advancement of sustainable power source is in its early stages in Bahrain and in the GCC region, However, some road lighting is fuelled by solar-charged batteries.
This Practice Note presents the various energy projects of the GCC countries.
