Drafting Note
This is a simple copyright clause in which the consultant grants a licence to the employer to use the documents produced by the consultant. It can be adapted for use in other construction contracts as necessary. A copyright licence is a key provision from the employer's point of view. It is also important for the employer to be able to transfer the licence and to have the right to grant sub-licences (as provided in this clause) so that it can allow other parties to use the consultant's documents where necessary in the future, for example in the event that the consultant's designs are required to be used in any future repair work.
