Overview
This Practice Note presents the principles regulating health and safety measures to be undertaken in the workplace in Bahrain.
It is the employer's duty to ensure the health and safety of the employees in the workplace.
This matter is regulated under articles 166 to 176 of Bahrain Law No. 36/2012 on the Issuance of the Labour Law in the Private Sector (Labour Law), which is completed by some ministerial resolutions.
This Practice Note sets out a summary of some of these resolutions.

Labour law
The Labour Law sets out the main framework for health and safety in the workplace in Bahrain. These principles have been further expanded and focused on by the Labour Ministry to target specific industries or specific risks through a number of ministerial resolutions.
Article 166 of the Labour Law states that it is the employer's obligation to provide occupational health and safety in the workplace in such a way that prevents work hazards, in particular in the following cases:
