Bahrain Law No. 36/2012 on the Issuance of the Labour Law in the Private Sector (the Labour Law) distinguishes between a definite term and an indefinite term employment contract.
This Practice Note sets out the specifications and the characteristics applicable to definite term employment contracts under the Labour Law.

Definite term employment contract
Article 20 of Bahrain Law No. 36/2012 (the Labour Law) requires that an employment contract include, amongst other information, 1) the nature and type of work as well as 2) the duration of the contract term. An employment contract is deemed a definite term employment in the following circumstances:
It is expressly made for a period of definite duration and shall terminate at the end of the stated period.
