  • The exponential increase in the volume of retail transactions conducted via the internet, which has been triggered by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and continues steadily due to the large-scale use of cutting-edge technologies, especially by the so-called BigTechs, calls for legislative intervention to regulate more effectively the conclusion of commercial transactions in the digital environment to protect the different stakeholders and ensure fair competition in the digital markets. According to 2022 UNCTAD statistics and research data, Bahrain is one of the developing countries that has witnessed the greatest rise in B2C e-commerce since the pandemic spread.
