Copyright Infringement
Overview
A copyright owner is entitled to safeguard their rights in their protected work against any violation committed by a third party.
Copyright infringement occurs when a third party - without authorisation- carries out actions that should have been exclusively exercised by the copyright owner.
Bahrain Law No. 22/2006 on the Protection of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights, regulates matters in relation to copyright infringement.
This Practice Note provides an overview of copyright infringement and will cover the following:
types of protected works;

Protected work : Any original literary or artistic work created by an author and protected by copyright.

Practical Guidance
Types of protected works
Article 2 of Bahrain Law No. 22/2006 defines the scope of protected works. It states that original works of literature, arts, and science will enjoy legal protection upon its creation, and no further formality is required. For further details regarding this point see Copyright and Associated Rights.
