As per a new law enacted, Lebanon Law No. 163/2020 published in the Official Gazette on 14 May 2020 organizing Private Investment Companies (the Law), a limited partnership company having a general partner and limited partners, may (1) invest in financial instruments issued by private companies or funds, non-negotiable on regulated financial markets on the day of the investment, (2) manage the foregoing private companies and funds, (3) grant loans and guarantee the foregoing private companies and funds provided it owns or holds participations in the said companies for not less than 10 per cent, and (4) acquire movable and real properties needed for its activities. However, the Law has not been tested yet due to the current economic crisis in Lebanon.
