The oil and gas sector is regulated by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, which acts together with the Council of Ministers of Oman, which replaced the now-defunct Council for Financial Affairs and Energy Resources by virtue of Oman Sultani Decree No. 108/2020 Abolishing Some Specialised Councils. Additionally, the Environment Authority (formerly known as the Ministry of Environment and Climatic Affairs) is the responsible body for regulating environmental aspects of oil and gas extraction in Oman.
