Kuwait: Expats Face Travel Ban Without Biometric Fingerprinting Compliance

Summary

Arab Times, 7 January 2025: The Interior Ministry in Kuwait has announced that starting 1 January 2025, expatriates who have not completed the biometric fingerprinting process will face travel restrictions.

These individuals will also encounter limitations on government and banking transactions until they fulfill the fingerprinting requirement.

During a recent radio interview, it was disclosed that over 3.5 million citizens and expatriates have already completed the biometric process.

Among the targeted groups, approximately 956,000 citizens have complied, leaving 16,000 still pending.

For expatriates, 2,504,000 have completed the process, with 181,718 yet to comply.

Additionally, 66,000 stateless individuals, known as Bedouns, have undergone fingerprinting, while 82,000 remain pending.

To facilitate the process, the General Department of Criminal Evidence has set up eight centres operating throughout the week, capable of handling up to 10,000 appointments daily.

The fingerprinting process takes less than three minutes and requires prior appointment booking through a designated application.
