As a solar powerhouse, the UAE is an ideal location for energy generation. Deserts in the region receive in just six hours more energy than humankind consumes in one year. Being at the forefront of the renewable energy movement would not only assist in helping the environment but it would also create a considerable amount of new opportunities and drive further research and development in the region, says Taylor Wessing's Senior Associate, Michael Kramer.
Where do we stand at present and how does the UAE use its resources?
Two solar power stations are located in Abu Dhabi, and Dubai recently announced it is looking to install a station which will generate 5 per cent of electricity required by 2030.
