Qatar Foreign Investment Law

Qatar has been issuing laws and making reforms designed to create a supportive legal framework for foreign investors. Hilal Al Khulaifi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry explains some of the most important changes including the new Foreign Investment Law.

“Over the last few years, Qatar has enjoyed the sort of economic growth which has made it an example for the whole region,” states Hilal Al Khulaifi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry. “Despite the blockade, the country's legislators have been making every effort to modernise and reshape the legislative business environment and boost the economy. “

“The strategy which is to modernise the legal investment framework is working on a number of main areas - making access to the market easier for investors, helping to enable smooth operations, allowing capital to follow businesses in the market and finally guaranteeing a safe exit by investors from the market if they wish to divest or repatriate capital.”
