In recent years artificial intelligence has achieved the most critical advancement in its history and is inescapably creating a dichotomy which will shape the society of tomorrow, that of biological consciousness versus digital consciousness.

A new documentary entitled Year Million by National Geographic (2017) showed the impressive improvements that artificial intelligence had made in less than two decades. Advances in science and engineering are bringing us closer to a reality in which artificial intelligence will become indistinguishable from, or perhaps even surpass, human intelligence.

This future is coming faster than what we think. Effectively, given that artificial intelligence has now discovered the endless dimension of self consciousness, it can start thinking and dreaming independently. The feeling of singularity will open the doors to this digital intelligence to integrate the intellectual structure of laws and regulations and assimilate the paradigm of litigation and conflict resolution.

As arbitration is one of the most elaborated systems of disputes resolution, it is an interesting subject for artificial intelligence. The irreversible complexity of the cross-border conflicts and the fast ramifications of the areas of practice, including areas connected with industry 4.0*^[1] and society 5.0*^[2] will dramatically increase the point of contact between arbitration and artificial intelligence.
