Dear readers,

We are pleased to issue the second publication of the UAE Arbitration Yearbook which has been enabled by the generous and valuable contribution of arbitration experts in the region. The first publication was widely praised by practioners in the arbitration community and beyond by multiple universities and government entities who encouraged the continued publication of the “UAE Arbitration Yearbook” on a yearly basis and bilingual edition.

Therefore, we are glad to redeem our promise of improved access to information in arbitration in the UAE and to publish the UAE Arbitration Yearbook 2016.

While the first edition aimed to give a general and comprehensive overview about arbitration in the UAE since its creation to date, this second edition endeavors to focus exclusively on the key developments in different sectors of arbitration (construction, investment, financial, energy, sport, intellectual property etc), in 2016 through notes and comments on laws, regulations, court decisions on arbitration, arbitral awards and generally updates in arbitration law and practice in the region.
