A - Preface

This Second edition of the UAE Arbitration Yearbook 2016 is aiming to consolidate the emergence of a real arbitral doctrinal synergy in UAE.

The ultimate purpose of the UAE Arbitration Yearbook is to provide a common platform to the arbitral community in UAE and abroad in order to exchange views, comments and updates regarding the different aspects of the development of the arbitral practice in UAE.

The First edition of the UAE Arbitration Yearbook received a warm welcome and was presented to prominent practitioners during the leading arbitral events in UAE: GAR Abu Dhabi and ICC MENA. I still remember the encouraging wording of Professor Emmanuel Gaillard that was particularly enthusiastic about this first initiative in the region.

We received later on many requests from arbitration practitioners established abroad to have a soft copy of the yearbook especially after the IBA annual Conference in Washington D.C. last September 2016.

On the other side, we observed a positive reaction of many public authorities at Federal and Local levels that welcomed and appraised the initiative.
