Developments in Arbitrations under DIFC LCIA Rules

It has been an exciting time since 17 November 2015 when the restructuring of DIFC LCIA was completed and the DIFC LCIA Arbitration Centre was relaunched.

Headline developments include the move to premises formerly occupied by the Dubai World Tribunal at Ground Level, Building 4, The Gate District, DIFC, Dubai, UAE took place in November 2015. Immediately upon the move an additional administrator was hired pending the recruitment of a full time Registrar.

The Registrar (Mohamed ElGhatit) started in mid- February 2016 and following his arrival a German qualified senior administrator was hired (Isabella Becker) who has now been trained by LCIA in London to assist the Registrar with case work. Later in the year an accountant was added to the team so that DIFC LCIA is now able to handle arbitrations under its Rules to the highest international standards from its premises in DIFC but with the supervision of LCIA and access to the expertise of the LCIA's Director General and her team in London.
