Four emirates in the UAE boast arbitration centres. Abu Dhabi has ADCCAC (Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre), Dubai has DIAC (Dubai International Arbitration Centre), Sharjah has SICAC (Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre) and Ras Al Khaimah has Ras Al Khaimah Reconciliation and Commercial Arbitration Center.Among the four arbitration centres, largely due to Dubai's long-standing reputation as a commercial and business hub of pre-eminence in the Gulf, DIAC is by far the most heavily used in the UAE by parties wishing to resolve their disputes by arbitration. This is followed by the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre in Dubai established as a result of a Dubai International Financial Centre and London Court of International Arbitration collaboration producing the DIFC-LCIA Rules 2008.With the ADCCAC Procedural Regulations of Arbitration issued in 2013 (ADCCAC Rules) drawing on UNCITRAL and ICC rules, recourse to arbitration under ADCCAC is expected grow and compete with other arbitral institutions in the UAE as it gradually gains the confidence of the business community.
