A - Preface

In 1976, Professor Jan Albert van den Berg published the first edition of the “International Arbitration Yearbook”. In that time UAE was a newly established federation whose creation dates back to 1971.

Four decades later, an impressive path has been travelled and UAE grows to become the second largest economy in GCC and the main regional hub of arbitration in Middle East and North Africa.

The vision of Our father Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nehayan metamorphoses UAE. He said “I had many dreams. I dreamed of our land keeping pace with the growth of the modern world".

Since that early times, it was clear in the spirits and hearts that this ambitious development plan needs to be solidly seated by a system of justice that bridges our roots with the aspired horizons.

In a very short period of time, UAE adhered to the main international and regional arbitration conventions, established and hosted many general and specialized arbitration centers and promoted the conditions of a prosper legal market with international standards.
