“Berytus Nutrix Legum”, “Beirut Mother of Laws”. This little city in the Middle East had an enormous impact on the civil law system. It embraced the oldest law school during the Roman Empire, played a crucial role inscribing first law concepts and diffused knowledge to Countries we now call Continental. The Justinian Code, civil law cornerstone, was a reprise of what have been already discovered in Beirut. Multilingual ethnicities and strategic location contributed now and then in the unique Lebanese mosaic whether in its legal institutions, its tailor-made laws and especially their practical implementation.
