Egypt Economic Courts Law

In 2008, Egypt witnessed a progressive movement towards specialization within its court system by issuing a new law that provides for the establishment of specialized economic courts. The logic behind establishing economic courts is that economic courts fit with the complex nature of the business, which usually requires experienced judges in business issues and reducing delays in litigation procedures. Egypt Law No. 120/2008 on the Economic Courts Law has been recently amended by Egypt Law No. 147/2019. The goal of the new amendment is to expand the jurisdiction of economic courts to include new legal issues in business laws, address some chaotic matters such as the enforcement of judicial decisions, and support electronic filing and e-litigation in general. More details are provided hereinafter on both Egypt Law No. 120/2008 and Egypt Law No. 147/2019
