Bahrain Law No. 30/2018
On 12 July 2018, the Kingdom of Bahrain issued Bahrain Law No. 30/2018 Issuing the Law on Personal Data Protection, which came into force on 1 August 2019. It has also, subsequently, issued a number of executive orders which collectively act as the implementing regulations to same. While Bahrain Law No. 30/2018 is comparable to laws such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), there are important differences which need to be considered. Businesses operating in Bahrain which have recently implemented a GDPR compliance programme will still need to pay close attention to these differences and should be aware of the new obligations in Bahrain Law No. 30/2018.
