Bahrain Law No. 22/2018 on the Issuance of the Reorganisation and Bankruptcy Law was published in the Official Gazette on 7 June 2018 and came into effect on 7 December 2018, repealing and replacing Bahrain Decree-Law No. 11/1987 on the Issuance of the Bankruptcy and Preventive Composition Law. An amendment to Bahrain Law No. 22/2018, Bahrain Decree-Law No. 25/2020 on Amending Some Provisions of the Reorganization and Bankruptcy Law was published in the Official Gazette on 16 July 2020 and came into effect on 17 July 2020. Bahrain Law No. 22/2018 breaks new ground in the GCC, bringing with it innovation in law unique to this region, as well as encouraging both foreign and domestic investment by laying out a clear and transparent, yet flexible, insolvency regime.
