Ministerial Decision No. 695/2016 On the Regulation of Net Fishing of Pelagic Fish (Surrounding Net)

The Minister of Climate Change and Environment,

Having perused the Federal Law No. 1/1972 on the Competencies of the Ministries and Powers of the Ministers, and its amending laws;

Federal Law No. 23/1999 on the exploitation, protection and development of living aquatic resources at the United Arab Emirates and its amendments;

And as part of the Ministry's keenness to achieve its strategic objectives concerning enhancing food safety and sustaining domestic production;

After coordinating with the relevant authorities, each within its own competence,

And based on the public interest requirements,

Decided:

Article 1

Net fishing of pelagic fish (surrounding net) shall be allowed for the fishermen licensed by the Ministry for net fishing and whose boats were registered in the Public Register of the Ministry under the type (Cruiser).

Article 2

a- Period of Fishing Pelagic Fish:

Net fishing pelagic fish (surrounding net) shall be permitted for the period from October 15 every year until May 15 of the following year.
